The Kooks are a British rock band that formed in Brighton, East Sussex in 2004. The band currently consists of Luke Pritchard (vocals/guitar), Hugh Harrish (guitar/synth), Alexis Nunez (drums), and Peter Denton (bass). The Kooks self-describe themselves as a pop band, being influenced by the 1960s British Invasion movement and post-punk revival of the new millennium.
All Music described their music as “cathcy as hell” and compared them to “more energetic [version of] Thrills or a looser [version of the] Sam Roberts Band, maybe even a less severe Arctic Monkeys at times.” The Kooks have released four studio albums; their 2006 debut Inside In/Inside Out which peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart, and their 2008 follow up Konk, which reached number one. Their third album, Junk of the Heart, spawned their faomus single “Junk of the Heart (Happy).”
The Kooks latest release is Listen, which was released in Septemeber of 2014 through Virgin EMI Records. The album was preceded by singles “Down“, “Around Town“, “Bad Habit” and “Forgive & Forget.”
