Of Montreal are headed back to Philly this spring. The band performed an epic show at Union Transfer back in May, and they will again be gracing the UT stage for their upcoming performance. Of Montreal will head out on an extensive tour of North America in support of their upcoming release. The tour begins today in Tallahasse, Florida and wraps up in April with a stop in New Orleans.
Of Montreal’s new album drops on March 3rd, just days before the band is set to arrive in Philly for their Union Transfer performance on March 8th. Support for the UT show will be provided by Yonatan Gat. In addition to their tour announcement, of Montreal released a track off of their upcoming album, Empyrean Abattoir. You can take a listen to the track here, as well as the previously released single, “Bassem Sabry.”
Frontman Kevin Barnes has described the newest album as “an emotionally exposed EP.” The album was shaped off of the singer’s personal experiences. He says, “I was going through a very stormy period in my life and felt like I was just completely trashed. I might be guilty of sharing or exposing too much of my private life, but to me the best albums are those that help people connect with an artist on a deep, human level and that do so without too much artifice or evasiveness.” Head to Union Transfer this March to hear Kevin Barnes perform those emotional new tracks.
