Of Montreal Announce Winter And Spring 2015 Tour Dates

Georgia-band Of Montreal have released a new single and announced a 2015 tour through the southern states.

Pitchfork recently reported that Of Montreal have released the second single “Empyrean Abattoir,” off their upcoming album Aureate Gloom, which will be released on March 3^rd via Polyvinyl. The band has also announced upcoming North American tour dates, which begin later this month in Tallahassee, and end in April in New Orleans.

Aureate Gloom marks the band’s thirteenth studio album since their origination in 1996. Labeled as psychedelic, glam rock, folk rock, indie pop, front man Kevin Barnes described the band’s latest album as “a golden despondency,” while channeling T. Rex and Television.

As for the inspiration behind the album, Barnes stated in a press release,

“I might be guilty of sharing or exposing too much of my private life, but to me the best albums are those that help people connect with an artist on a deep, human level and that do so without too much artifice or evasiveness.”
