Motion City Soundtrack is an American rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota that formed in 1997. The bands lineup consists of Justin Pierre, Joshua Cain, Jesse Johnson, Matthew Taylor, and Claudio Rivera. Motion City Soundtrack has released five studio albums and has sold nearly 600,000 records throughout their career.
In 2000, they released their debut EP, Kids for America, which was followed by another EP, Back to the Beat. In 2002 they released their debut album, I Am the Movie. Eventually they signed with Epitaph Records, where they re-released their debut album. The re-release marked the bands breakthrough, with their first major single “The Future Freaks Me Out.” With gained recognition in the music scene, their second album, Commit This to Memory, is to date their most successful album. The album reached number two on the Independent Albums chart.
