Charli XCX is tired of being a collaborator, and now she has broken out on her own with the smashing hit single “Gold Coins.”

After writing songs for Iggy Azalea and Icona Pop, Charli XCX has now decided she wants her own piece of turf to explore. Her newest single “Gold Coins” announces her arrival with the thundering drums of a viking warlord and a fuzzy guitar that would make Gerard Way proud. The third track revealed off of her upcoming record Sucker, “Gold Coins” features a heavy punk beat that has been the singer’s signature ever since she first hit the scene. Aside from the upcoming solo effort, Charli XCX has also joined forces with Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon for contribution to the Hunger Games soundtrack. Along with “Breaking Up” and “London Queen”, Sucker is shaping up to be a triumphant solo effort from Charli XCX, and we can’t wait to hear the finished product.
The record was originally slated for a December 16th release, but has since been delayed for various reasons. It currently has a planned release for January 24th.
