Annual European music festivals are a real early birds in announcing the next year lineups. One of the finest – Barcelona’s Primavera Sound – will be celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2015, and on this occasion, the organizers have decided to invite someone special. Thereby, meet the first Primavera Sound headliners – The Strokes.
It’s already a tradition for Primavera that the festival’s headliner is announced by unveiling a banner with the band’s logo in one of Barcelona’s main streets. Last year they did the same with Arcade Fire, this time is the time for The Strokes, as reported by the band’s fan site The Strokes News. NME points out that ‘as the night fell, ultraviolet light revealed that the banner was related to Primavera Sound’.

Speaking earlier this year in an interview to GQ, Julian Casablancas wasn’t so optimistic about The Strokes touring together saying it’s ‘a great way to destroy a band’, as well as mentioning that ‘a band [itself] is a great way to destroy a friendship’.
At the same time, in March interview Julian was speaking about the band’s future in a more positive tone, and especially about the chance of The Strokes possible touring – first since 2011, saying he and the band were ‘trying to carry on as friends, taking it easy, recording a couple of songs, and do[ing] a couple of shows.’
After releasing a second solo album ‘Tyranny’ with The Voidz, Julian might be up for a new challenge with The Strokes headlining some of the major music festivals in 2015, so as for a probable recording of the follow-up to band’s fifth LP ‘Comedown Machine’.
Primavera Sound music festival is to be held in Barcelona 28-30 May, 2015. The tickets for Primavera are available at the official website for the price of €145 until November 17. After this date the price is €160.
