Following Belle & Sebastian member Stuart Murdoch’s work on God Help the Girl’s original motion picture soundtrack, the band’s announcement for their forthcoming album Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance, and their enchanting performance at Texas’ Austin City Limits, the English indie pop band has officially released their newest single.

As the first radio single since “Come on Sister” from 2010’s Write About Love, Belle & Sebastian’s, “The Party Line”, serves as a stark contrast to their traditional sound. Stuart Murdoch’s gentle voice, layered over smooth, dance-worthy electronics maintains a sound reminiscent of the disco era. The song’s funky tunes provide an upbeat attitude that just makes you want to “jump to the beat of the party line.”

Belle & Sebastian’s ninth studio album, Girls In Peacetime Want to Dance, will be released via Matador on January 20th, 2015.
