Nick Oliveri Says Vista Chino Has Broken Up

Vista Chino, who has gone through tough struggles and lawsuits, have called it quits, according to Nick Oliveri.

Nick Olveri, who is currently working on his own project and was the bass player for Kyuss, has announced that Vista Chino has broken up during an interview. Vista Chino, whose last album was released in 2013, ended silently after the turmoil they endured with their legal battles.

Through the time Kyuss was together, band members came in went citing creative differences but underlyig bitterness was left between members. But when John Garcia and Brant Bjork reunited to create Kyuss Lives!, which also featured Oliveri, although he left the band shortly before things went awry. Josh Homme sued the members over the name use and won, the Kyuss Lives! members changed the name to Vista Chino.

Oliveri adressed the break up on Antiquiet, saying:

I never did any live shows with Vista Chino. And as far as I know, John left the band, the band broke up.

He cited a falling out as the cause of the band dissolving but also John Garcia’s solo career. Olveri also spoke about the tension with Josh Homme with the Kyuss Lives! drama, adding:

At the same time, I don’t know why Josh was never asked to do it, he should’ve been asked even if just out of respect. You can’t do a reunion without the main songwriter, especially if you’re going to use the same name, and Josh was definitely the main songwriter.

Although the situation has turned into a bitter memory, Oliveri hinted that some things happen for a reason, saying:

If Kyuss had never broken up, think of the bands that wouldn’t have happened.

With the chaotic roller-coaster the members of Vista Chino had gone through and no official response from those who were still in the band, fans can catch the members in their other projects and endeavors.
