Bishop Nehru & DOOM – NehruvianDOOM

More Than Just Hype

NehruvianDOOM is equal parts Bishop Nehru and MF Doom. Doom produces 8 out of the 9 tracks and throws a verse or chorus here and there, but Doom never overshadows the other side of this equation in Nehru. This 18 year old MC controls the mic like a veteran and can hang with the big dogs, even if he is still seen as a puppy by some. NehruvianDOOM elevates Nehru to a different level and should garnish him that spotlight he rightfully deserves.

“OM” emphasizes all the right traits of this duo. The beats are gritty and Nehru really kills it here. Nehru states, “Gotta balance out the give and take, cause I made a couple of mistakes/I know you can relate, but now I’m trying to live great,”  and if he lives by this advice throughout the rest of his career he’ll definitely look back and be thankful. “Darkness” is another stand out track on NehruvianDOOM. Doom is mainly known as an emcee, but producing isn’t merely a hobby for him and this song shows it.

“Casket” shows Doom and Nehru going back to back both delivering almost perfect verses. After listening to this track, it makes you want to fast forward a few years down the road to see how Nehru grows from here.

Nehru released his first mixtape almost three years ago, when he was merely 15 years old.  Since then he has gained the attention of not just MF Doom but also Nas, and signed to his label Mass Appeal . NehruvianDOOM shows why Nehru is more than hype.

Doom combined the best tracks to both punctuate and accent Nehru and it is the type of bullet point on a discography that really shows credibility. NehruvianDOOM is going to be the album that pushes Nehru in the spotlight, at least it should be.
