Widespread Panic is an American rock band from Georgia. Their current lineup includes John Bell (guitar/vocals), Dave Schools (bass), Todd Nance (drums), Domingo Ortiz (percussion), John Hermann (keys), and Jimmy Herring (guitar). With an enormous selection of music to choose from, they’re known for never playing the same set twice. They have released eleven studio albums, ten live albums, and have sold over three million records.
Widespread Panic has been influenced my genres including southern rock, blues rock, progressive rock, funk, and hard rock. They are often compared to popular bands including, Grateful Dead and Phish. As of 2013, they old the record for number of sold out performances at Red Rock Amphitheater at 42 and the Philips Area at 20.
After a short hiatus, Widespread Panic picked up touring again in spring of 2013. During these post hiatus shows, the band introduced new innovations in the audio broadcast of their live performance. They started broadcasting live soundboard recordings of the show via mixlr.com and the Mixlr smartphone app.
