Twenty years ago, the legendary English rock band blessed the world stages with their long, loud psychedelic music. They invaded homes and took over radios with their hard rock, blues, electronic, and folkish songs. But their not done yet. Pink Floyd have announced the date of their latest album, The Endless River, to be released on November 10th.
Pink Floyd has been a really remarkable band even after all these years. They announced the production of the new album back in July, and the news about how they would use previous recorded material that dates back to the 1994. The album will feature samples of past albums. According to Paste, “Comprised of 18 songs described as “mostly ambient and instrumental,” The Endless River was sculpted from recordings made during the band’s 1993 sessions for The Division Bell.”
Pink Floyd honors band member and friend, Rick Wright, who passed away in 2008. On their website, they write, “The Endless River is a tribute to Rick Wright, whose keyboards are at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. It is a mainly instrumental album with one song, ‘Louder Than Words’, (with new lyrics by Polly Samson), arranged across four sides and produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth and Andy Jackson.”
Twenty years went by quickly, but it seems the band is still doing great things. Pink Floyd had already celebrated a 20th anniversary with fans by releasing a box set of The Division Bell, that has their remastered hits. Their album Dark Side of the Moon had recently been appreciated by the psychedelic alternative rock band, THE FLAMING LIPS, as they designed their new digital album, The Flaming Side of the Moon, as a companion piece.
