Little Dragon is Swedish electronic from Gotehnburg, that formed in 1996. The band consists of Yukimi Nagano (vocals/percussion), Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Kallgren (bass), and Hakan Wirenstrand (keys). Their first release was their double A-side 7″ single “Twice“/”Test“, released on the Off the Wall label in 2006. The following year, the band signed with a larger British independent label Peacefrog Records.
Their debut self-titled album, Little Dragon, was released in the Summer of 2007. They followed up with, Machine Dreams, which was released two years later in 2009. They then released, Ritual Union, in 2011. Most recently, Little Dragons released, Nabuma Rubberband, their latest album in 2014 on Because Music. The album has spawned three popular singles including, “Klapp Klapp“, “Paris” and “Let Go“.
Little Dragon has been inspired by popular artists including Prince and Janet Jackson that lead vocalist, Yukimi, listened to while wandering around the city. Yukimi comments on their new album, and how it brings a different feel to previous Little Dragon albums. “When you put some of Janet’s really slow stuff on you feel like you’re floating,” Yukimi explains. “That feeling really influenced me and maybe that’s why there are quite a lot of slow jams on the record.”
