WATCH: Slipknot Release New Video For The Negative One

It’s been quite a long stretch for Slipknot over these last six years, but the band continues to power forward with an official video of their new single, “The Negative One,” available on YouTube. Although the band has gone through an emotionally difficult period, the song doesn’t just blow the doors open for the group- it annihilates the building that the doors were on.

Despite losing their signature bassist, the late Paul Gray, in 2010, and recently parting ways with drummer Joey Jordison, Slipknot hasn’t lost a step in the nearly twenty years since the group’s formation. The video, which was directed by none other than “Clown” Crahan, is an ominous scene straight out of a horror movie, typical of the imagery that is associated with the group, and the music that accompanies it is as powerful as it could ever be. While it’s been a challenge to move on from the death of Paul Gray, singer Corey Taylor has recently told Full Metal Jackie that they’re ready to soldier on in spite of it all:

We’re making an album that’s not just a reflection. Let’s just get new music out there. There’s something very vital with what we’re trying to do. There’s something very visceral with the emotion we’re playing with and trying to tell the story of a band that’s gone through hell, and yet we’re back. It’s been really fulfilling.

Details on the album appear sketchy at best, but with the release of “The Negative One”, anticipation for the album will continue to build until its release. Be sure to catch the video for the new single here.
