Back in May, mxdwn reported the possibility of a new Faith No More album due to a tweet by lead singer Mike Patton stating that we should all stay tuned for what’s in store, and now they have given their fans a little taste.

On July 4th, at the British Summertime Festival in London, England, the band played two brand new unnamed songs, their first new music in 17 years. According to the Faith No More 2.0 fan site, the band played the two new songs plus an additional one at the Open’er Festival in Poland, which was the last show of their mini-European tour.
The band who’s last album, Album of the Year, was released in 1997, made a comeback in 2009 headlining at the Brixton Academy in London, and have played periodic shows the last few years, have recently opened a new Twitter account posting: “The reunion thing was fun, but now it’s time to get a little creative.”
According to Blabbermouth, Patton has said that one of the reasons the FAITH NO MORE reunion didn’t happen sooner is the fact that they wanted to avoid making it feel like a nostalgia thing — like “Here’s FAITH NO MORE again.” “We wanted it to feel fresh and still somehow vital.”
Patton made it clear that, “It wasn’t a money grab. It’s funny to say, but we all kind of reconnected, and after quite a long time we all kinda looked at each other and were like, ‘Man, we actually spent half of our lives together.’ It’s interesting to see it through that set of glasses as opposed to the ones you wore back then. I suppose, at least personally speaking, I’ve grown up a lot since then, and I think I approach the music differently, and I felt better about the music than I did then.”
Update: The previously unidentified songs have been identified the Faith No More 2.0 fan site as Matador first played in November 2011, Men/Superhero and Motherfucker.
