Anberlin is an American rock band that formed in 2002. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Stephan Christian, guitarist Joseph Milligan and Christian McAlhaney, bassist Deon Rexroat, and drummer Nathan Young.
Within a year of Anberlin’s formation, they signed with the semi-independant record label Tooth & Nail Records. Their released their debut album, Blueprints for the Black Market on the label. In 2005, the band released their second album, Never Take Friendship Personal, which has sold over 150,000 copies. The bands third album, Cities, was released in 2007 and became their first album to reach top 20 of the Billboard 200. The album sold 34,000 copies in its first week.
After their first three albums, Anberlin switched to Universal Republic in 2007. They released, New Surrender, in 2008. The album peaked at number 13 on the Billboard 200. The first single was “Feel Good Drag,” which claimed number one the alternative songs chart. Their next two albums were, Dark Is the Way, Light Is a Place and Devotion, leaving Anberlin with a sales record of over 1,000,000 album sales. At the beginning of this year, Anberlin announced they would be disbanding after recording their seventh album, Lowborn, which comes out on July 22.
