Social media leaks have finally lead to the announcement of a new album by the legendary English rock band Pink Floyd, which will not include founding member and long-time bassist Roger Waters.
According to Crave Online, The Endless River, scheduled to be released in 2014, was first leaked two days ago on Twitter by Polly Samson, wife of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, which said, “[By the way] Pink Floyd album out in October is called The Endless River. Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright’s swan song and very beautiful.”

Billboard reported that Andy Jackson, Pink Floyd’s long-time engineer used the bands fan site Floydian Slip to confirm the new album. Durga McBroom-Hudson, one of the band’s touring vocalists posted of Facebook that, “YES. THERE IS A NEW PINK FLOYD ALBUM COMING OUT. AND I’M ON IT. And there was much rejoicing.”
A source close to the band told UK newspaper The Sun, that the album which features previously unreleased material dating back as far as 1994, will not feature Roger Waters who left the band after 1983’s The Final Cut. Most of the music is taken from sessions with David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and the late Richard Wright.
McBroom-Hudson also stated that, “It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them.”
A spokesperson for Pink Floyd also told The Sun that Gilmour and Mason have been working hard on The Endless River over the last six months, which currently locked up London’s Abbey Road Studios’ vault and has “been a joy for [them] to rediscover.”
The spokesperson continued to say that the band has no plans to tour following the release of The Endless River.
