Jamie xx @ Union Transfer 9/4

Jamie xx, member of London-based band The xx, is coming to Philly this September. He’s headed out on a tour  later this summer, kicking things off in San Francisco on August 22nd. Jamie will arrive in Philly for his performance at Union Transfer on September 4th!

He recently released the track “All Under One Roof Raving,” a song which he says was recorded “whilst on the tail end of another year on the road with The xx.” Jamie says he was missing life in London, going through music and videos that reminded him of home.  He goes on to say that the track “serves as a reminder, not to take any time for granted at home or away.”

His real name is Jamie Smith and he has been playing music since 2005, when he joined The xx, a group comprised of his old classmates.  It wasn’t until 2009, when The xx released their debut album, that he would use the moniker Jamie xx. The album was a success, and Jamie would go on to produce tracks for other artists like Adele, and Florence + The Machine. He also branced out on his own to produce material for himself. In 2011, Jamie xx released We’re New Here a remix album inspired by Gil Scott-Heron’s I’m New Here.

Head to Union Transfer on 9/4 to see what Jamie xx has in store for us!
