Lorin Ashton, better known by his stage name Bassnectar, is a freeform electronic music producer and DJ from Santa Cruz, California. He is best known for his live performances, light shows, and community engagement.
Bassnectar started out playing shows at house parties, and began gaining momentum at Burning Man festival. Bassnectar started as an open-sourced musical experiment project exploring the interplay between music and community. He released his first solo album in 2001 and performed as Bassnectar for the first time in 2002.
Bassnectar has collaborated and remixed for artists and producers including, Lupe Fiasco, Perry Farrell, Ellie Goulding, Datsik, Excision, and more. Bassnectar has performed at multiple music festivals including, Camp Bisco, Coachella, SXSW, Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Forest Festival, Lollapalooza, Wakarusa, and Austin City Limits.
