Courtney Barnett & San Fermin @ Union Transfer 10/20

This fall, WXPN presents an exciting event that features not one, but two hugely talented headliners. The double-header will showcase Courtney Barnett and San Fermin. Everything goes down at Union Transfer on October 20th! In addition to Courtney Barnett and San Fermin, the show will also feature opener Mikhael Paskalev.

First up is Courtney Barnett, an Australian singer-songwriter who released her first EP and started her own label in 2012. Following a performance at the CMJ Music Marathon, Barnett drew the attention of several notable publications including The New York Times. She is currently out supporting her latest release (a combination of her previous two EPs), The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas. The last time she came to Philly she sold out Union Transfer, so you can expect this show to be equally as popular, if not more. She has an album slated for the fall, so we anticipate hearing some new tunes at her upcoming Union Transfer show.

Also on the bill are San Fermin, Brooklyn’s baroque pop band, who were here just a week ago, playing at The Kimmel Center for Solstice in the City. They are out supporting their debut self-titled album, which was released in September of last year. NPR called the record “one of the year’s most surprising, ambitious, evocative and moving records.” That being said, you will not want to miss these guys when they return to Philly this October!

Show opener, Mikhael Paskalev, is a Norwegian-Bulgarian singer. Paskalev released a self-titled EP in 2012. His studio album came a year later in 2013. What’s Life Without Losers debuted in the Top 10 of the Norwegian Albums Chart. Catch him this fall when he opens for Courtney Barnett and San Fermin!
