A second night for Nickel Creek has been added to the ACL Live calendar due to an overwhelming demand for tickets! Nickel Creek is an American progressive acoustic music trio. The trio consists of Chris Thile (mandolin), Sara Watkins (fiddle) and Sean Watkins (guitar). The three joined together in 1989 in Southern California. They have released six albums between the years of 1993 and 2006. They had their breakthrough in 2000 with their self-titled album produced by Alison Krauss. The self-titled album went platinum, and earned a number of Grammy and CMA nominations.

Their fourth album, This Side, won a 2003 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. After their fifth studio album, Why Should the Fire Die?, the band announced an indefinite hiatus during their 2007 Farewell (For Now) Tour. In 2014, Nickel Creek reformed and announced a new album and subsequent tour.

This current tour marks the 25th anniversary of Nickel Creek’s formation. Sara and Chris were merely eight years old when they started playing with 12-year-old Sean. Their first gig was at a pizza parlor in San Diego. Now, the three play festivals and sold out shows all across America. The first single off of their new album, A Dotted Line, is titled “Destination,” which was debuted on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
