This June, Philadelphia Eagle Connor Barwin presents an event for his Make The World Better Foundation. The charity event will be held at Union Transfer and will feature a slew of performances from Philadelphia’s best including Kurt Vile & The Violators and The Districts. Not from Philly, but still pretty great, are The Tontons who will also be in attendance on June 20th at Union Transfer.
As if you really needed an excuse to see Kurt Vile, 2013’s “Philly Artist of the Year”, it should be pointed out that all proceeds from the event will be donated and matched by the Make The World Better Foundation. The project’s aim is to help in the revitalization of the Ralph Brooks Park in South Philly. The renovations will include a new state-of-the-art basketball court as well as well-lit play areas for the kids. They’ll also get an urban farm and what is sure to be an awesome mural by Steve Powers (aka ESPO). You may remember the mural he made for Kurt Vile’s album cover, or the limited edition prints he made for Kurt Vile Day last summer. You can check out more information on the MTWB foundation on their website.
Tickets for the event are just $25, or guests can choose from two VIP packages which will include meet and greets with the musicians and some Eagles players, including Connor Barwin himself, LeSean McCoy, and more. The VIP folks will also be treated to an open bar and catering from Prime Stache. Get there early as The Districts kick off the night!
