Hit singer/songwriter Jenny Lewis has announced her latest project. Lewis, who has performed as the frontwoman for Rilo Kiley, worked with The Postal Service and has toured in the duo Jenny and Johnny, has announced her newest album, The Voyager, set to be out in July.
Lewis is staying busy this season, with her tour schedule taking her to the Governor’s Ball and Austin City Limits, among other festivals. She’s also been coming up with a lot of new material; she debuted four songs last week during a performance at the Roxy. Lewis is also making an appearance on the newest “Girls” soundtrack with her track, “Completely Not Me,” which you can hear below.
Lewis got her start with Rilo Kiley, but her career hasn’t been without strong solo releases. 2008’s Acid Tongue was followed by 2010 release, I’m Having Fun Now, under the name Jenny and Johnny, her collaboration with Johnathan Rice. Along with Rice, Lewis has written the entire score and a few songs for the soon to be released film “Song One,” starring Anne Hathaway. If there’s one thing fans have come to expect from Lewis, whether she’s collaborating in a duo, singing by herself or rocking the stage with a band, it’s that she’s versatile and open to new kinds of projects. Time will tell if The Voyager will be another hitmaker, but it will undoubtedly re-introduce fans to the kind of music that Lewis makes so well even just by herself.
