The upcoming Linkin Park album The Hunting Party will feature multiple guest appearances, from musicians in other established rock bands and one rapper.
According to Blabbermouth, the group is being joined by Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, Page Hamilton of Helmet, Daron Malakian of System of a Down and rapper Rakim. Other than a collaboration with Jay-Z on the Linkin Park EP Collision Course in 2004, the band has never worked with any other artists on studio recordings.
The album will be released on June 17, and co-vocalist Mike Shinoda says that they are trying to make it one that will be possible to play live: “We try to approach how we perform our songs with integrity, and the stuff we write in the studio can be really layered,” he said. “There can be a lot of stuff in there — lots of tracks of cool sounds and samples and keyboards and multiple guitars and all this. And sometimes it’s a big challenge to bring that to the stage, but we end up just finding a way to make it all work.”
Linkin Park will hit the road in support of the album this fall with 30 Seconds to Mars co-headlining. Before that, the band will be playing at England’s Download Festival in June, with a twist – they plan to play their hit album Hybrid Theory in full at the festival.
