Teen sensation Lorde just got a taste of her first ever Coachella as a performer in the festivals first weekend.
The 17 year old New Zealander just seems to be unstoppable; since the release of the infamous “Royals” off her debut album, Pure Heroine, the track has claimed over 15 number one song of 2013 titles. Even more impressively, Lorde scooped up four nominations, two actual trophies, and a memorable performance at this years prestigious Grammy Awards. Recently, she has been hard at work, such as in her collaboration with Son Lux last month.
Her Coachella set, in similar fashion, did not disappoint. Slotted for the second day, she performed on the Outside Stage (which she shared with Pharrell, Disclosure, Nas, Haim, and others that weekend), dazzling listeners with her nine-song set. With her wild mane and all white outfit, Lorde started off with “Glory of War” before she crooned her way through the other picks like “Royals”, “Ribs”, and “Team”. She even teased the crowd with a little prologue to “Royals”, taking the time to thank everyone in her typically Kiwi way (“We are so lucky…this is mental!”) before ripping into the track as the crowd went wild. It is clear that since her green beginnings, Lorde has truly learned the ways of the music world and how to get to her audience going. Hats off to her!
