Courtney Love Announces Plans to Reunite Classic Hole Lineup

We recently observed the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s suicide. So, perfect timing for Courtney Love to announce plans to reunite the classic roster of Hole, right?

Right?

…yeah, it wouldn’t have killed her to be at least a little more tactful. Whatever. Tasteless this may be, there’s no denying that some interesting music could come out of it.

In 1998, Hole was: Courtney Love, Eric Erlandsen, Patty Schemel, and Melissa Auf der Maur. And the album they put out together was Celebrity Skin. And, in case you’d forgotten how good a musician Love could be, it was absolutely enormous. A critical and commercial success, Celebrity Skin pulled down 4 Grammy nominations over two years, and was certified platinum in three nations.

The album would be the last they would produce together. The band dissolved in 2002 and reformed in 2009 with a completely different lineup, but failed to reach similar heights. The newest rumors should be taken with a grain of salt – Love herself says that initial reports were optimistic at best. Either way, there seems to be new material in the works. Fingers crossed it has nothing to do with that Kurt Cobian musical she’s been working on.
