The Chain Gang of 1974 @ Boot & Saddle 6/5

Fresh off a recent stint at SXSW, The Chain Gang of 1974 have announced a set of North American tour dates that will bring them to Boot & Saddle on June 5th. Kamtin Mohager, the man behind the Chain Gang, is also the ex-bassist for 3OH!3. His unique sound is a melding of EDM and 80’s-inspired sounds. It may sound like an odd combination, but somehow it works, and his music is meant to inspire that nostalgia in us. Mohager says, “That’s definitely been the goal with my music all along. The emotion isn’t just in the vocals or the lyrics. It’s in the songwriting itself.”

The Chain Gang of 1974 released their second album, Daydream Forever, in February of this year. The album’s first single was also featured in the official trailer for the hugely successfully game Grand Theft Auto V. This no doubt helped to catapult both the song, and it’s creator, to worldwide recognition. Mohager has said that “Sleepwalking,” that very single that has attracted so much buzz, was the first song he worked on for the new album. He had taken a year off from touring and writing and was rediscovering what the band was all about. After just a few hours in the studio, the song was finished and the very natural process helped to set the mood for the rest of the album as well as “the essence for this new chapter of the band.”

Opening for The Chain Gang of 1974 on their US tour will be the LA-based indie-pop band Blondfire. The duo consists of brother and sister Bruce and Erica Driscoll. You probably recognize them from their hit single “Where the Kids Are,” which has been featured in commercials for the Honda Civic.  Blondfire recently released their second album, Young Heart this past February.

Catch both The Chain Gang of 1974 and Blondfire when they hit the stage at Boot & Saddle this June!
