This summer, two of the world’s largest rock bands, Kiss and Def Leppard, are touring together to perform in front of thousands of rock and roll fans. The tour is covering 40 cities kicking-off June 23 in West Valley City, Utah at the USANA Amphitheater. In July of 2014, the two bands will stop at Austin’s outdoor amphitheater, and rock the night away.
Kiss, the band well known for their full face makeup rose to fame in the mid to late 1970s with their elaborate live performances, which consisted of fire breathing, blood spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits and pyrotechnics. Kiss has released 44 albums and has sold more than 40 million albums in the United States, of which 24 million have been certified by the RIAA. Their worldwide sales exceed 100 million records, making them one of the world’s best selling bands of all time. This year KISS celebrates two major milestones, their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as well as the band’s 40th Anniversary.
Def Leppard is an English rock band who formed in 1977. They have sold more than 100 million records worldwide and have two albums with RIAA diamond certification, Pyromania and Hysteria. They are one of only five rock bands with two original studio albums selling over 10 million copies in the U.S., along with The Beatles, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd and Van Halen. The band was ranked No. 31 in VH1s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and No. 70 in 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
