The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger @ Johnny Brenda’s 6/6

The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger (aka Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl) are coming to Johnny Brenda’s on June 6th! The couple met at Coachella in 2004, and then formed the band in 2008, choosing the name from a short story that Muhl had once written. The band’s latest album, Midnight Sun, is due out April 29th. Rolling Stone recently ranked the new album as one of the 27 albums you need to hear this year. Sean Lennon says, “We’ve finally developed a sound we’re happy with.”

The twosome spent months working on Midnight Sun, recording the material in their home studio. They’ll be releasing the album on Lennon’s label Chimera Music. Their previous album, Acoustic Sessions, was also released via Chimera. Lennon says he created his own music label because he liked ‘the idea of having an artist-run label where it’s family-based and you put out your friends’ records, you put out music because you like it and because it’s interesting and not because you’re trying to find the next Jonas Brothers or something.”

Be sure to show up early to catch the psychedelic sounds of openers Syd Arthur. Sean Lennon isn’t the only relative of rock royalty. Syd Arthur’s violinist Raven Bush is Kate Bush’s nephew. Their new album, Sound Mirror, is set to be released on May 20th. The band has already released the first track from the album, “Garden of Time.” They’ve also released a video for the song – and if you sign up for the band’s mailing list you can grab a free copy of the track.

This is sure to be a popular event – so act fast!
