Calling all Parrotheads! Jimmy Buffett is headed back to Philly (well, Camden) for another summer concert. Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will bring the “This One’s For You” tour to the Susquehanna Bank Center on August 19th.
Jimmy Buffett has become ubiquitous with summer thanks in large part to his immortal song “Margaritaville.” Each year, Parrotheads from all over the area migrate to the Susquehanna Bank Center to see Buffett in concert. Visitors to the venue can expect to see crowds of all ages forming hours before the actual 8pm start time. Now an annual tradition for many, the pre-show tailgate is perhaps even more of an event than the concert itself. Last year, many fans had to adjust their typical tailgate routine as the city issued a heat warning prior to the concert. They were later met with high winds and even rain, but nothing can keep dedicated Buffett fans away from their favorite summer outing.
Tickets for this year’s concert go on sale Friday, February 28th at 10am. Buffett is touring in support of his newest album, Songs From St. Somewhere. The album, released in August of 2013, was Buffett’s 29th studio album. While the album was received with mixed reviews, almost everyone seems to agree on one fact. This album, as well as much of Buffett’s previous collection, is “perfect for a listener who’s drunk.” Songs From St. Somewhere was described as “a perfectly fine fix between boat drinks for any Parrothead worth his or her feathers.” The album’s first single, “Too Drunk to Karaoke” features country singer Toby Keith.
