Four-piece grunge band The Afghan Whigs have just released the video to new song “Algiers”, their first track released in 16 years.

After so much time without releasing new music, the Afghan Whigs have been causing stir recently, for instance performing with Usher at SXSW ’13 (much to the delight of the audience). They announced their spot in the Coachella Valley Music Festival 2014 lineup last month, where they will be playing alongside legendary performers like Outkast and Nas. Soon thereafter, to their fans’ great excitement, they announced that their first album in 16 years, Do to the Beast, was due for worldwide release on Sub Pop Records on April 14/15.
The single “Algiers” was directed by Phil Harder (The Fratellis and Barenaked Ladies) in Agua Dulce, northeast of Santa Clarita, California, and is a sepia-stained 3 minute immersion in a Wild West like world. The single pulses forward and showcases what will prove, no doubt, to be an incredible album. Watch here:
