Billy Corgan Plans 8 Hour Live Interpretation of Siddhartha

The weird and wonderful Billy Corgan has stirred things up once again, announcing that he plans to perform an “ambient, instrumental interpretation” of Hermann Hesse’s existential novel Siddartha.

Frontman of Smashing Pumpkins, Corgan announced on his own facebook page that he would be performing Siddartha at Madame ZuZu’s Teahouse, a Chicago teahouse- his home state of course. Given he estimates the performance will take 8-9 hours, the event starts at noon and is free of charge. The performance will add a musical aspect to the celebrated text, and will be in Corgan’s own words “built by modular synthesis, on the fly.”

Corgan has set the hearts of many aflutter in his comments about new Smashing Pumpkins material being underway. The group released their last album, Oceania, in 2012, and their fans have been ruminating in it since.
