The cover of the 1992 song by Childish Gambino, “Die without you” originally performed by PM Dawn is remarkably similar to the original. And who doesn’t appreciate a good cover of a good song? If the goal was to remake this song as a loyal tribute to the original, then I applaud the effort as achieved. Keeping the interesting artistic nuances of the original intact should bring some new fans for the Childish Gambino. While retention of certain characteristics are often lost in the translation, it is not true in this case. Fans of the original will be pleased to be able to recognize, reminisce, and still appreciate the song.
