Neutral Milk Hotel @ The Mann Center 7/21

Just a week after selling out both The Tower Theater and Union Transfer, Neutral Milk Hotel have announced another Philly performance. They will return to the city this July to perform at The Mann!

Neutral Milk Hotel has a long history which began in the ’90s as a recording project for founder Jeff Magnum. The first release was a 7″, Everything Is, which debuted in 1994. At the time, the band primarily consisted of Magnum and various friends he gathered for recording purposes. Upon releasing the full length album, On Avery Island, in 1996, the band was now a fully functioning unit consisting of Jeremy Barnes, Julian Koster, and Scott Spillane. The group released their second album, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, in 1998. The album received a great deal of praise, but that would be the last time Neutral Milk Hotel released an album.

Beginning in 2010, Jeff Magnum began playing pop up shows and in 2011, he announced a slew of solo performances.
In 2012, Magnum played at Coachella. He also curated All Tomorrow’s Parties, a festival in England. But finally, in April of last year, Neutral Milk Hotel announced that they would reunite for a tour. Both Philly shows (at The Tower and Union Transfer) sold out almost immediately. If you missed out on either of these shows – or if you just can’t get enough of NMH, be sure to get your tickets to their July performance at The Mann. The band has noted that these will be “the final headline shows in the NYC, Philadelphia, and DC area for the foreseeable future.” So don’t miss your chance to see them before perhaps another 15 year hiatus.

Providing support for their Mann Center performance will be Circulatory System, a psychedelic rock ensemble from Athens, Georgia.  Founder Will Cullen Hart is a part of the Elephant 6 collective along with Jeff Magnum.

Tickets go on sale February 7th at noon. $1 from each ticket will be donated to Children of the Blue Sky.
