The Horrors are feeding the promotion machine with details of their upcoming album, which should be released sometime in April of this year.
The Britain-based group took some time to talk to NME recently, and describe the direction of their latest outing.
We’ve been experimenting with sound processing, sequencers and rhythm. We want to make music you can dance to, music that elevates. It feels like the next step to us.
Says bassist, Rhys Webb. Considering the tone change seen in 2011’s Skying, it should be little surprise that The Horrors are exploring new terrain. Webb also made a point of addressing comments made by guitarist Joshua Hayward in 2012 that new material would resemble space-rock legends Hawkwind (one of Lemmy’s earlier bands):
One of the conversations we had after the last record was about moving in a slightly heavier direction. That’s happened in a way, but not in the sense that people would expect. It’s not heavy in the sort of way that referencing Hawkwind might suggest.
There are worse things in the world than sounding like 70’s era Hawkwind, but either way, we wait with bated breath.
