Amber Coffman (Dirty Projectors) At Work on Solo LP

Amber Coffman of the Dirty Projectors is on the job and on her own – there’s no release date, and no teasers to be had, but stay on the lookout for the singer-songwriter’s debut solo album.

Best known for her work with indie rock outfit Dirty Projectors, Coffman has spent her last two years expanding horizons and busting genres. 2012 saw a collaboration between her and Major Lazer’s Diplo, followed by a 2013 feature on J. Cole’s song “She Knows”. Not only that, but she also recently posted a photo of herself recording with John Cale of Velvet Underground fame. Big names, but the next step for Coffman looks like it’s going to be solo.

The news first broke on Andy Beckerman’s “Beginnings” podcast, where the two also discussed Coffman’s plans for recording the album. In what promises to be a slate-cleaning move for Coffman, she’ll be moving cross-country from New York to LA. Click through to find the full podcast.
