Those wanting to get to know the British indie-pop group a little better can do so during their upcoming string of 25 shows in New York City this March.
The xx will be taking up residence at NYC’s Park Avenue Armory March 19-24. During this time they will be performing twice-a-day (thrice on the weekends) to an audience capped at an intimate 40 people. This cozy premise mimics the group’s smaller performances during the Manchester International Festival last summer. We were lucky enough to experience The xx at the Hollywood Bowl this September and can wholeheartedly endorse their live act.
Besides touring in support of their 2012 album, Coexist, the group has also been seen fending off Croatian activist group U ime obitelji from using their song in an anti-gay marriage ad. In an infinitely more appropriate use of the band’s music, “Crystalised” was recently covered by Martina Topley-Bird, Mark Lanegan and Warpaint in fantastic fashion.
