A new supergroup is forming, featuring Max Cavalera of Soulfly (and numerous other bands), Greg Puciato of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Dave Elitch of The Mars Volta and Troy Sanders of Mastodon.
Although the project is still unnamed, Blabbermouth reports that the collective has signed on with Nuclear Blast for its debut album, which is expected sometime in 2014. Josh Wilbur, who has worked with Lamb of God and Gojira, will be producing the record.
Cavalera, who has been busy with several projects lately, said, “It’s going to be cool. We just don’t have a name yet. The name is a pain in the ass to find a name, but the music is great. We have been working on this for two years.”
The collaboration is a sort of different idea for these artists, as Puciato pointed out: “No one in metal makes collaborative records like people in jazz and hip-hop do. It doesn’t have to be like a band that you’re launching from the ground that you go on tour with. There is something to be said for collaboration and throwing yourself out there and learning something new from working with different people.”
