Kid606 Releases Stream of New Song “Cute Never Dies” from New Album Happiness Set for October 2013 Release and Accompanying Beat Tape Going Back to Kali Yuga

Miguel De Pedro AKA electronic shapeshifter Kid606 reps Happiness with a limp-beat chillout made for maximum dopamine extraction.

Having been criticized in the past for his disjointed style, Going Back to Kali Yuga sees a seemingly unaffected Kid606 reaching for his industrial roots on “Rabbit Chasing,” tucking into softer IDM territory on “Wonderdawgs,” and then taking a hard left into Techno town before a Hearts-of-Space-style fadeout. It’s a contorted Twister game of a record, but you don’t have to bend over backward to enjoy it.

“Kali Yuga” isn’t just baby-talk for California, De Pedro’s childhood home. Via Bandcamp, he offered this [grammatically] enigmatic statement:

The Hindu Kali Yuga epoch has been going on since over 3000 years BC. Any return to this apocalyptic time could only be one of consciousness. The Sikhs consider this an era when people should meditate as much as possible. What Kid606 has to meditate upon that is dark and involves a return to where he started is up for speculation though. In the meantime, enjoy these freaked-out moody synth-hop jams!

Cheer up. Happiness is released October 21.
