Produced by the popular satirical news source “The Onion,” an entertainment news site called “The A.V. Club” recently had shock rock band GWAR as a guest performing a truly ridiculous cover of Billy Ocean’s “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car.”
The A.V. Club hosts a web series called A.V. Undercover in which 25 songs are chosen at the beginning of the season that the hosts want to see covered. Then then invite 25 bands to come on the show and choose which song in the list to cover. Season 3 saw GWAR in a horrific rendition of Kansas’ “Carryon My Wayward Son” (it was the last one on the list). This year they chose a double whammy, covering Billy Ocean’s “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car” for A.V. Undercover and then singer Oderus Urungus put in his two cents in the column HateSong.
The band threw in a surprise at the end, adding a second cover of The Who’s “Baba O’Riley.” Watch the video below and try not to crack up.
Oderus Urungus just recently had fans in stitches when he created a mock HR video about how to be a good intern at FuseTV.
The band has a new album called Battle Maximus and are currently in the middle of a massive fall tour, and has now reached nearly 43,000 signatures on their Change.org petition to play the 2015 Superbowl.
