Call them video game hardware hackers, 8-bit songsmiths, NYU Techies turned pop stars. After a stint in the UK, the boys of Anamanaguchi join forces with Dillon Francis bring their hypermelodic sythns, over-the-top drops, and chiptune symphonies Westward.
Are you classically trained in the fanatical arts? Doesn’t matter because nothing can stop gamers hyped up on Red Bull and 90s nostalgia. Drilling into such a well of potential paid off big time for the New York City crew who, as “hackers and producers born and raised on the internet,” have every right to drink that milkshake. Their songwriting talent and significant nerd-cred got them producing the score to 2010’s comic-book-to-movie adaptation of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. And earlier this year, their Kickstarter project for their latest album Endless Fantasy netted $277,399. That’s over five times their funding goal of $50,000.
Now, they’ve announced that they’ll be touring with electronic DJ Dillon Francis following their appearing at New Orleans’ Voodoo Festival this November. Dates below!
