Unconventional is the word being used to describe every aspect of their plans for 2014. Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters has recently announced the band will begin recording their next studio album in 2014. The catch is, however, the album is already finished being written.
Grohl and his bandmates have been coy regarding their new album’s unconventional nature. In interviews with several sources, members of the band have alluded to doing this album… well… a bit differently. “We are going to make this album in a way that no one’s ever done before and we’re pretty excited about it,” said Grohl to XFM London. Guitarist Chris Shiflett reportedly expressed his own excitement about the album to Faster Louder, stating, “it’s gonna be pretty fuckin’ fun.” Drummer Taylor Hawkins has been equally as closed-lips about the album.
Dave Grohl seems to want to make 2014 as big or even bigger of a year than 2013 has been for himself and his bands. He performed with the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney, was asked to appear on records by Joan Jett and Queens of the Stone age and made his directorial debut on documentary. The former Nirvana drummer also gets to see a reissue of Nirvana’s In Utero this year.
With all of the events from this year and the excitement for the next, we can expect to see great things coming up from Foo Fighters.
