Red Bull Sound Select has started a great trend of putting on really killer shoes in select cities. They brought The Smashing Pumpkins to SXSW with 3 amazing local bands, and now they’re bringing The Dandy Warhols! This year The Dandy’s have re-released their most defining album, Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia. Before the current tour, they had been doing surprise mini pop up shows in notable Portland spots. On a recent jaunt to the city, it had been hoped that a right place right time situation would occur, and they’d be caught live if only for a moment, but alas, no such luck. A few of the Dandys were spotted at a Black Rebel Motorcycle Club show that week though, we’ll take what we can get.
This is a really great lineup. Theophilus London is a genre bending hip-hop artist who puts on a great live show, and The Sour Notes and Gentleman Rogues are two killer Austin bands on the rise who are perfect to get into to support your local music scene.
The tickets for this event are free, but they must be requested through the Red Bull Sound Select website. It requires you to sign in, and then add content from various social-networking sites to show how you move your local music scene forward. Tickets will be given to fans selected by the bands.
