Gamers turned indie rock band Anamanaguchi has recently opened a KickStarter fund for their new album Endless Fantasy, set to end 29 days from now on June 3rd. The pretty boys from New York City: lead songwriter Peter Berkman, bassist James DeVito, guitarist Ary Warnaar and drummer Luke Silas, gained notoriety through their unique skill to create music from video game hardware like NES and Game Boy.
The group has recently finished a 22 track album over a course of three years and are looking to gain donations from fans across the globe in order to create, collaborate, and market in a more effective fashion that will contribute to the success of the album. The band is seeking contributions ranging from $1 to $50,000, and is even rewarding backers for each donation they give. For instance, a donation of $20 could get a fan an 11×17 poster designed for Endless Fantasy, and a pre-order of the album for release.
As of now, the group’s KickStarter has been more than successful. With 29 more days to go they have already reached and exceeded their goal of $50,000 with an amassed $69, 192 from over 1600 donators. As guitarist Ary Warnaar puts it:
We’d rather have our fans be our record label, than record labels be our record label.
