Coming off the critical acclaim of the excellent David Comes to Life, Fucked Up is hard at work at recording another album. The band will take a break from writing the follow-up for a few events in their hometown Toronto. The “Long Winter” series’ website describes the event as being “a monthly night of immersive and interactive music, installations, visual art, readings, food and dance to help Toronto get through our long and cold winter.”
Guitarist/co-frontman Mike Haliechuck tells Exclaim!:
[The band’s goal is for] lots of people from different communities [to] come together under one roof. What we’re planning is a kind of event we’ve never really been a part of. The idea is to match up people who go to disparate events in Toronto but don’t really have the chance to be part of the same thing.
The series will include performances work by local artists, lecturers, dancers, videographers and other performers in addition to a set by Fucked Up. The first night took place on November 9 in Toronto’s Great Hall. The event was presented by Exclaim! in honor of the Canadian publication’s 20th anniversary. Concertgoers that night saw performances by Fucked Up, Diana, Wyrd Visions and many more.
Monthly appearances include:
December 14: Toronto, ON – The Great Hall
January 11: Toronto, ON – The Great Hall
February 8: Toronto, ON – The Great Hall
