fun. has unveiled their end of the year tour plans and offered a preview for what to expect in 2013. Highlights include a homecoming at the legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York, a show that sold out within minutes of its announcement.
Having just completed a European headline tour that spanned the continent, the band will return to the road Wednesday, October 31st for a sold out Halloween spectacular at Portland, Maine’s State Theater, followed the next day by the start of the eagerly awaited REVERB Campus Consciousness Tour. Presented in partnership with non-profit group REVERB and Ben & Jerry’s, the sold out tour will hit an array of colleges across the country, beginning November 4th at Rochester Institute of Technology’s Gordon Field House in Rochester, New York.
On November 3rd at 11:30 ET/PT (check local listings), fun. fans around the country will be able to watch them live as they join host Louis C.K. as musical guest on the next installment of NBC’s Saturday Night Live. This performance will add to a growing list of national television appearances that includes Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, CBS’ Late Show With David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and TODAY, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, TBS’ Conan, VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live, E!’s Chelsea Lately, and the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.
fun. will open up 2013 for what is sure to be another huge year for them at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, MN on January 23rd with presale tickets available Wednesday, October 24th (look for them here) and general sale set for Friday, October 26th. The tour will continue on through February 16th, where they will play at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
Earlier this week, fun’s new music video “Carry On” debuted on Entertainment Weekly’s ‘Music Mix’ blog. You can stream the video on Youtube.
Their hit single, “We Are Young” (Feat. Janelle Monáe) was a top-selling track in 2012, spending six consecutive weeks atop Billboard’s “Hot 100” and earning 5x RIAA platinum sales. The song also re-wrote history, posting sales in excess of 300,000 per week for seven successive weeks, shattering the previous record held by Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie” (Feat. Rihanna), which enjoyed five straight weeks of sales over 300,000.
