Photos: Sparta Live at The Troubadour

Texas-based rockers Sparta stopped off at The Troubadour in Hollywood, as part of their first tour since going on hiatus in 2008. A mixed-age crowd of fans packed the iconic venue, which as ever allowed the early-comers to get within a hair’s breadth of the band.

Jim Ward, frontman for the band since it’s inception (and the initial demise of At The Drive-In), proclaimed he “felt like I’m at home at the Troubadour,” much to the delight of the locals in the audience. Among others the crowd included skateboard legend Tony Hawk. Blasting through a set containing a varied selection of their material culled from all three albums, and even including a brand new number, “Chemical Feel,” they closed out, without an encore to crowd-pleasers”Cut Your Ribbon” and “Air.”
