Patti Smith Announces New Album Banga for June 2012 Release

The musician, artist, and writer Patti Smith has announced that she will be releasing a new album, Banga, in June 2012.  This will be Smith’s eleventh studio album, marking her 37th year in the punk rock industry.  Combining her multiple talents, Smith masterfully her own poetic lyrics with rock melodies.

Nicknamed the “Godmother of Punk,” Smith has blended the worlds of poetry and rock.  She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007, and she also won the National Book Award for her memoir Just Kids in 2010.
