Goldenvoice, the company that serves as the organizer and promoter of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, made a big purchase last week. They bought 280 acres of land in Indio surrounding the festival grounds, including the Eldorado Polo Club, Triangle Bar Farms, Fish Creek and Ambassador Glen Holden’s property. It seems that this purchase will make it easier for Goldenvoice to put on this huge festival down the road.
When Goldenvoice president Paul Tollet chatted with Billboard, he said that the deal would “help us put in some infrastructure so we don’t have to keep coming back and doing the same things each year.” This purchase will make organization much easier down the road and also double the amount of land that Goldenvoice controls in Indio. Presumably, it will give the concert promotion company the resources to establish a more lasting structure to the festival grounds and rid them of the headaches that come with hosting a huge festival amidst a community that exists independently of the annual Coachella celebration.
