Ramona Gonzalez aka Nite Jewel is paving the way…for herself. The Cali native started making “transcendent minimalist dance-pop” in the privacy of her own home, with nothing other than multitrack cassette recorder and whatever keyboards, drum machines, and other instruments were available. Her unique sound caught the ear of the cool guys over at indie label Secretly Canadian, and the rest is a dance-y, beat-laden history. (Check out the title track of her album here, you’ll get what I mean.)
She’s having her album release show on March 6 at none other than the Del Monte Speakeasy in Venice, and it’s sure to be a killer time. Oh and did I mention Dam-Funk is doing a DJ set at the release as well? Well, it’s true. Even more incentive to go and get loose.
