“Cuckoo Chaos is a nice, firm ass in the palm of your hands.”
Don’t ask me what that sounds like or what it means because I didn’t write it – they did. But it got your attention didn’t it? Cuckoo Chaos, other than being evidently gifted at describing their own persona in interesting and sometimes slightly disturbing terms (“Cuckoo Chaos is the John the Baptist of cunnilingus”), is an in-your-face fivesome from San Diego who clearly aren’t that worried about what other perceive them as. The same can be said of their music – their strangely named single “Jesus Flag American Fish” is a frenzied number that RCRD LBL describes as “a tune so loaded with banana boat riffs and easy listening verse, it’s giving our ears a tan.”
Anything that gives any part of me a tan I’m automatically a fan of (that’s what I get for growing up in Seattle…), so I don’t see any argument against seeing them for FREE at Bardot in Hollywood this Monday night with Reggie Watts, Hey Rosetta! and Baby Alpaca. The show is part of KCRW‘s ongoing School Night sessions and is bound to be a good time- and please, someone ask the band after the show where they come up with these descriptions (“Cuckoo Chaos is the Rasputin of children’s birthday parties and the Richard Simmons of carpet bombing.”)
